An abstract eye on downtown architecture
Cities have been under construction for millennia, decimated by earthquakes, floods, fires, bombs, boom & bust; only to be re-built, renovated, re-purposed, and renewed; a cacophony of incongruent cultures, fashions, styles, designs, and methods… Individually a building is a piece of art unto itself. Collectively the cityscape becomes busy, intense, overwhelming in minute detail. My inquiring mind seeks out clarity, beauty, serenity, austerity, amongst this historical discord. So I find a different viewpoint, simplify, subtract, zoom in, close up, capture something new for my imagination, images that challenge perception, confuse and defy spatial relationships, limit context, restrict peripheral vision, and applaud time.
